The Frank & Walters play The Bowery Rathmines Sat 5th of May 2018
The Frank & Walters are set to perform on The Bowery stage for the first time this Saturday 5 May.
Twenty five years after The Frank & Walters gatecrashed the UK Top 20 with their seminal hit ‘After All’, the track has found a whole new audience following a classic television moment on the RTE/BBC production The Young Offenders. A little more than 25 years to the day since the Franks played ‘After All’ on BBC’s flagship music show, Top of the Pops, the melodic hit once again reminded listeners that good tunes simply never go away and so began the track’s whirlwind ascent of music charts both here and in the UK, culminating in a mid-week position of Number 1 on the i-Tunes download chart. Taken from the album Trains Boats and Planes (which has also been rocketing up the UK indie charts), ‘After All’ was produced by Ian Brodie (Lightening Seeds) and heralded a hugely successful period for the Franks. Tours with the likes of Radiohead, Suede and Carter USM followed as the band graced the covers of hugely influential magazines NME and Melody Maker and went on to base themselves in New York. http://www.frankandwalters.net
‘After All’ has been a staple of Irish radio stations over the ensuing years, but with the arrival of its 25th anniversary combined with an outpouring of warmth following the finale of The Young Offenders,
“The Frank and Walters create music as timeless and classic as their heroes The Beatles and Brian Wilson. But it’s their decency and kindness, in a music biz of sharks, that will always endear them to me” – Ken Sweeney
